Apple is yet again ready to tackle through its way to the smartphone market dominance with its latest flagship device – iPhone 6. Similar to last year’s unveiling of two models: iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, Apple is expected to launch two different versions of iPhone 6. Here are some of the rumors around the tech-sphere about what to expect from your new iPhone.
iPhone 6 is to become Apple’s biggest iPhone ever. Now, iPhone has always been criticized about its smaller screen as compared to most of other flagship smartphones. Well for now, it’s expected to come in two different size variants – a 4.7 inch and a 5.5 inch variation. According to a recent report out of China, the 4.7-inch model will be the true successor as “iPhone 6” while the 5.5-inch variant will be dubbed the “iPhone Air”.
As we know, iPhone 5 and 5S were the first smartphones to pack Apple’s 64-bit processor. Now, rumor has it that Apple will be using a scaring-fast 20-nm quad-core, 64-bit A8 processor for its new flagship. If the rumors be true, iPhone 6 will be the first iPhone to have a quad-core processor.
Sapphire Crystal Display
This might be a very big deal for not only iPhone 6 release but also for the upcoming flagships from other brand. Apple is to discontinue using Gorilla Glass 3 and a new technology of super-strong Sapphire Crystal Display is being introduced. This Sapphire Crystal was previously used on the fingerprint scanning home button of iPhone 5S to ensure a clean scan. Only a few users have had their hands-on with the Sapphire Crystal Display up till now. Youtuber Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) has taken the Display through series of tests like scraping, bending and even stabbing the screen but the screen has prevailed with no noticeable scratch.

Display and Resolution
Apple has used the “Retina Display” approach for a long time now. But with the new rumors, the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is expected to have 1704 x 960 display which would be a significant improvement over iPhone 5S’s 4-inch 1136 x 640 display. For the 5.5-inch version, there have been no suggestions or indications but some people seem to think it will have Quad HD resolution i.e. 1440 x 2560 px. But the safe bet would be that Apple will retain its “Retina” approach which has a smaller pixel density comparing with other flagships from Android platform, but still high enough for human eye, at least in Apple’s opinion.
New reports from AppleInsider indicates that the iPhone 6 could have optical image stabilization like the Nexus 5 and Lumia 1020. More recent rumors from Chinese website IT168 Mobile and MacRumors suggests 10MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture lens.
iPhone 6 may finally catch up with Android phones with NFC(Near Field Communications) capabilities. Apple received a patent for NFC technology in January 2014.
The next-iPhone might also be packed with an Air Pressure Sensor. According to 9to5Mac, Apple’s upcoming iOS 8 includes code for tracking altitude and ambient pressure which leads to speculations that iPhone 6 could have a barometer.
Apple is expected to launch the successor of iPhone series this fall, most probably 2nd half of September most of its recent predecessors were unveiled on September. With newly announced iOS 8 and Apple’s ownership of Beats, lets see if the company succeeds in fulfilling all the expectations of the users.
